There are many people living on the streets and have lost hope. Homelessness is one of those life altering events that can lead to severe hopelessness. The loss of hope is what usually drives people to suicide. Homelessness didn't stop one man from losing hope. We want to share this homeless to success story to show that their is hope even if you become homeless!

John Paul DeJoria grew up in a poor family in Los Angeles, California. He remembers when he was really young, his mom told him to give some money to the Salvation Army. He asked why they should give money even though they were poor. His mother said that there are always people in positions worse than you and you should help them.

John remembered this as he grew up and now lives by this rule. John eventually went on to become homeless in his early twenties. He knew he had to get out of that situation so he started collecting empty bottles from the garbage to survive. He eventually made enough money to pull himself out and get some housing.

Shortly after, he became homeless again where he was forced to lived out of his car. John didn't let this stop him. Through hard work, persistence, and determination he went on to create several businesses that have generated him billions of dollars. He is now on the Forbes list as one of the wealthiest individuals in the world!

His success isn't just measured in dollars though. John lives by that rule that his mother taught him and is now giving much of his wealth away to charities that help people. He even went on to sign “The Giving Pledge” in 2011 to give half of his earnings to help better the world.

Watch John tell how he went from homeless to success.

Johns story may be unique, but it's not rare. There are millions of testimonies of people feeling hopeless with no way out, that eventually found hope and happiness. We want to give you hope by sharing other people's stories, because like John I believe in helping people.

If there were more people in the world that thought like this we probably wouldn't have as much division. Division causes destruction. Jesus once said that a kingdom divided against itself can not stand (Mark 3:24). This is true in all areas. Relationships, business, government, social class, etc.

You may not know it, but you can have division within yourself as well. One part of you wants to live life to the fullest, but the other part says you are an idiot and a failure. You may even feel you are better off dead. These divisions in your life are causing problems you didn't even know you had.
